I am an Interaction Design Masters student studying at The Umeå Institute of Design in Sweden.
I have a background in Industrial Design having graduated with First Class honours in Industrial design from The University of Newcastle, and then continuing with a graduate certificate in interactive multimedia from UTS.
After graduating I began working at Envent in Sydney, an interactive kiosk design consultancy. During this time I was able to drive projects from concept through to delivery as the sole designer at the company. This involved attending client meetings, detailing CAD documents and helping to coordinate national rollouts.
During this time I was able to learn about interaction design for the first time and begin to see the relationship between digital and physical objects.
After working at Envent I worked in a Boutique Industrial Design and Point of Purchase design firm called Dot Design. At Dot I was able to experience an incredibly high paced work cycle, managing up to 15 projects at one time, mostly involving offshore manufacturing. This experience was incredibly valuable both in learning about how to manage projects and people, but also how to communicate detail with people on the other side of the world.
I decided to leave home in Australia and begin studying in Umeå because I felt like the work I was doing in Australia wasn’t addressing the needs of users or making use of emergent technology.
With my Interaction Design career I seek to combine a strong understanding of users with creative approaches to solving problems.
Exploring HMI In New Contexts
While at Frog Design I was able to work on an HMI Project from Research Synthesis through to
